The job

The CleanTech research programme conducts applied research regarding sustainable technologies along several research lines, one of which is ‘GreenIT’. In recent years the programme has developed the so-called Software Energy Footprint lab (www.seflab.com): a platform where several servers are equipped with energy measurement sensors, enabling to map energy consumption of software on hardware components of servers. The SEFLab offers software developers, datacenters and hosting providers the ability to analyse energy performance of software and to evaluate improvement strategies.

Within the project “Greening the Cloud” the CleanTech research programme works together with more than ten hosting providers and software companies to research how cloud environments can be developed more energy efficiently. Within this project we are looking for an enthousiastic researcher to organize, conduct and guide the research of the “Greening the Cloud” project over a period of 2 years.

You will be the main contact for the project partners, will develop expertise on the topic of energy efficiency and cloud infrastructures, play a role in translating research questions from partner companies to concrete measurement experiments, and guide researchers and students executing these experiments in the SEFLab.

You will work closely with the researchers within the CleanTech research programme, as well as teachers within the Computer Sciences department, to acquire students and researchers for this project and support in making publications based on the project results. You will fulfill the role of tutor, academic counselor and / or coach and guide and assess students on internships and writing their thesis projects.

We are looking for

A professional (preferably) in possession of a master. You have practical and / or research experience in the field of software engineering, system and network engineering and/or computer sciences. You have good communication skills and have an affinity with teaching and supervising students. You are a result driven team player.

We offer

The work is part of the organizational position of lecturer 2, pay scale 11 (CAO HBO). The maximum is salary € 4365, – gross per month for a full-time appointment and depending on education and experience. Initially you will be offered a temporary contract for one year. Extension is dependent on proven performance, formation space and the influx of new students.
